Qualities of Leader's
Thinking about the qualities of a leader, one interesting quote comes to the mind-
The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you. In between, the leader is a servant. —Max DePree
A leader’s role in any organisational setup has largely been discussed, dissected and documented. There have been theories about what is the best way go about being a great leader but according to me, all this discussion depends on a select few quantities.
First, a leader should be the vision provider for a company’s progress and future. He is the one who predicts the future based on past, present and his instinct and then makes his team believe in the future. He is also the one who keeps an eye on what’s going on right now and accordingly alters his vision if required. Belief in one’s dream but being flexible in the way to achieve it, is the crux here.
Secondly, it should be a leader's’ ability to inspire his team to give their ultimate best in pursuing that bright future. He should be able to cheer them up or carry them forward in every situation that comes along while chasing a goal.
Thirdly, he should give freedom to his teammates, not micro-manage but still be there every time they need a helping hand.
So in total a successful leader has to be a visionary, a mentor, a friend and an inspiration for his team.
