IPL Sports or Entertainment

                         IPL- Sports Or Entertainment

The Indian Premier League, the latest passion of the nation, has turned into a source of entertainment. It is not just a sporting event in the true spirit. For the past years IPL has generated tremendous interest in our country. It has successfully merged cricket with demands of the public and market. People enjoy the game because of the variety it offers, players from different countries constitute a team, involvement of all glamorous personalities which adds to the pleasure in watching the game. Earlier cricket lovers got the opportunity of watching the world cup series once in four years only. But now, IPL is providing the opportunity of watching competitive world cricket every year. The aim of IPL was initially to play cricket. But of late, it became a pure source of entertainment. Unlike One-day cricket and test matches, which at times become monotonous, IPL has turned out to be a three-hour entertainment like a movie. The IPL matches are so crisp that it attracts people from all age group. Also the paparazzi style reporting done by certain TV Channels and tabloids have made the IPL into something much more than cricket. Everybody appears to get recharged after the match. Despite the so many positives that could have come about from this potent mix, today the core product is losing out. There aren't too many Indian stars emerging from the ranks of the IPL teams, and while the IPL remains the flagship sports property for Indians, don't expect anything but hype at the mega-auction next year. It has become a melting pot of business, entertainment and politics - with athletes as an afterthought. This may or may not help the league in the long run, but as long as the product is successful, society will be going along with the game.

  1. IPL is more of an entertainment than a sporting event. It does give exposure to many young players to show their talent and some get the chance of entering the national team. So it does give a good exposure to the players. But how can a player's calibre be determined in short format like T20 when they have to play mainly 50 overs or Test tournaments?

  2. We enjoyed the IPL game because of the variety it offers, players from different countries constitute a team and that adds to the pleasure of watching the game. the IPL has now blossomed into a full-fledged drama worthy of Indian television and its entertainment-inclined audiences.the Indian Premier League, which pays hefty amounts to many players, is a platform for many budding players who dream to make it big one day. 3. IPL is entertainment for sure but saying that it does not allow their caliber as we all know that in the last few years the scores in other format of cricket have gone very high and this is all because of IPL. Due to IPL players were able strengthen themselves , pushing themselves to their outer limits for their fans , not the ones that belong to their country but all also all around the world. So to sum it up IPL is like a coin that have two faces, one which is entertainment and glamour whereas the other one is the pure passion of both players and audience towards the great sport CRICKET.

  4. IPL is a mixture of an entertaining package and a cricket spirit.A true and a well prepared cricketer should know how to play according to the situations.Patience,Teamwork etc all are judged in IPL 20-20.Moreover many people don't enjoy a long cricket match and when they watch IPL it serves as a entertaining package .Hence IPL is a mixture of both the entertainment as well as cricket spirit.

How can one wonder a sports contest without adrenaline rush and entertainment. On my personal side, i see IPL as a very good option for the players to come along an knowing each other, no matter where they came from, which colour, which language they say. They come along as team and play together, isn't this is a globalisation we always talked about. Merely saying that this game is corrupt and all the black money is involved, will not be a justified statement. And on sports man ship thing i would say, A player always remain a player, and those who were caught in the spot fixing and other such activity, we shouldn't even consider them a player on first place. Concluding my point i would say, like every coin there are too sides a bad and a good. We should welcome both the sides equally and enjoy this league happily.
